The Excellence in the Arts Grants Program, a collaboration between Applied Materials and the Arts Council Silicon Valley in San Jose, California, supports artistic excellence and leadership development in small and mid-sized arts organizations. Recipients of the Excellence in the Arts program grants reflect the diversity of arts and cultural institutions in Silicon Valley. Applied received the prestigious Arts & Business Award in recognition of its commitment to the Arts.
- An innovative Arts Integration Project, initiated by Applied Materials in Austin, Texas, places teaching artists in elementary school classrooms to mentor teachers in using the arts to enhance core curriculum in math, science, reading and social studies. Partners include the Center for Women and Their Work and the Manor Independent School District. Expectations are high for improved attendance, test scores and teacher satisfaction.
- In Taiwan, Applied Materials organizes arts festivals to promote work-life balance and create a welcoming venue for the community to explore the arts. Recent sessions have included lectures on eastern and western art history, operatic performances and a jazz concert.
